Sampling Tile

The Sampling tile in the Cropwise Protector Scouting app allows users to drop a pin where a soil sample was taken in the field and an annotation is displayed on the map. Data such as the sample code, longitude and latitude,notes, and a photo of the sample are all captured when entering a sample point. 

To begin entering a sample point in the scouting app, a user must first be standing within the boundary of a field or force their location to be inside a field boundary. To see how to force your location, click here. 

Once the user is standing in a field boundary or has forced their location, click on the blue Sampling tile at the bottom of the screen. 

When the Sampling page opens, users will see there are three ways that the sampling code can be entered. The first way a sampling code can be entered is by clicking within the Sampling code text box and type out the code. When the code has been entered, click Ok to save. 

     

The second way a user could enter a sampling code is by clicking Generate code and allowing the app to generate a random code for the user. 

The third way to enter a sampling code is to click on Scan code. A page will open where the user can hover their phone camera over the code, then the sampling code that is scanned will generate in the sampling code text box. 

Users can enter a note if needed by clicking within the Notes textbox and typing out the desired note. To save the note, click the green Save button. 

**Please note that there is a 1000 character limit on the note and although the Save button may be partially hidden by the device keyboard, it is still clickable. 

      

A photo can also be taken and attached to this sampling point but is not required. To take a photo, click on the camera icon in the top-right corner of the screen. The users device camera will open and a photo can be captured. 

Once a user has entered the Sampling code, entered any Notes, or taken a photo, click the green Finish button at the bottom of the screen to complete the Sampling point and drop the pin on the map.
