Once logged into FarmShots, it will display a list of your farms to begin viewing images. The available farms to select from can also be navigated to by tapping on the home icon if the app is currently in the map screen. Select a farm in your list to begin analyzing the satellite imagery.
Next, select the image icon to view the available images for the selected farm.
Individual images will be available for selection, in addition to an image quality indicator for every image. Each image will vary in image quality based on a mostly sunny day , partially cloudy
and a cloudy day
.
Within the FarmShots app, there are five available satellite algorithms to choose from which includes:
- NDVI (Red) - Used for mid-season vegetation health
- SAVI - Used for early stage plants, when there is less canopy closure
- Visual - This is what the human eye sees
- EVI - Enhanced version of NDVI (R). Removes atmospheric inconsistencies
- NDWI - Measures moisture, used for detecting pools of water in fields
The Variability View is also available for a deeper dive to view a greater variance or view on a per field basis for each satellite algorithm, except visual. First, tap the Variability View button and tap on a field boundary.
A slider bar is available at the bottom of the screen to adjust the variability for the selected field and satellite algorithm.
