To split a field into crop zones, or segments, select the field within the Land menu and then within the Map screen, select Split Into Crop Zones within Tools. Split Into Crop Zones can also be found within Crop Options drop down in the upper left corner.
Or
Within the Split Into Crop Zones tool are various tools to split up a field.
Line Slicer
The line slicer tool allows a field to be split by a single line. When using the line slicer tool, identify the first point of the line outside of the field boundary with a single click and then complete the slicing line by double clicking on the last point outside of the field boundary with a double click.
The field is now split into two segments, divided by the slicing line that was identified.
Scissors Tool
The scissors tool allows a field to be cut by a zigzag line throughout a field boundary. After selecting the scissors tool, first identify your first point outside the field boundary and then create additional points throughout the field boundary with single clicks of the mouse. When the zigzag line has been identified, double click the last point to complete the field split.
The field is now also divided by the line identified with the scissors tool.
Polygon Cutter
The polygon cutter tool allows for a polygon or shape to drawn on top of the field boundary to only capture the overlapped area within the field boundary.
The field is now also divided by the polygon drawn over the field boundary. Notice only the area within the field boundary the polygon overlapped is being considered as a separate segment. Any area of the drawn polygon outside of the field boundary will not be saved.
Assigning Crops to Crop Zones
Once a field boundary has been split into the crop zones or segments needed, select Assign Crops to begin assigning crops to each crop zone.
Before assigning the first crop, it is best practice to move the field boundary to the left side of the screen to visibly identify which crop zone or segment is selected when assigning crops.
Next, select the first crop zone in the list on the right side of the screen.
The crop zone will be highlighted in red that is currently receiving a crop assignment. Next, search and select the Crop in the drop down list. The Name of the crop zone will default to the name of the crop assigned, however the crop zone can be changed if needed. Reported Area can be captured if the field acreage identified by the crop zone split is not correct. When the new crop zone information is captured, select Add Crop Zone.
Next, repeat this process for each crop zone within the list. If a crop zone does not need to be included, select No Crop Zone for that crop assignment. When all crop zones have been configured, select Finish.
The newly created crop zones will now be visible within the Farm Field tree in the Land menu.
