In this article we will cover how to create new fields within GHX Fields. Fields can be created in a variety of ways; Drawing (Rectangle, Polygon, or Pivot), Importing from File, and Creating from CLU boundary (where available in the United States).
Identify the grower account that fields need to be mapped within. Once identified, expand the growers details by choosing the ↓ arrow towards the right side of the growers account name. Now that the details section is expanded then choose Field Activities.
Select + Add a Field.
From the left hand panel enter the farm and field name then select one of the mapping tools in the upper right corner of the map. See each mapping functions instructions below.
1. Import from CLU boundary (shape selection).
2. Draw Rectangle
3. Draw Polygon
4. Draw Pivot
Import from CLU Boundary:
From the left hand panel enter the farm and field name then choose the Select Boundary tool to activate selectable CLU boundaries across the map.
Select within the boundary(s) that makeup the field to highlight them. Once complete, choose the Save button in the top right corner of the map to save the shapes and calculate the sum of acres.
Once saved, the sum of the shapes acres selected will calculate into the Acres box below the field name. Edit the acres here if needed by backspacing the calculated number and entering a custom acreage.
Choose Add Another Field to continue adding fields or choose Done to finish and return to the fields list.
Draw Rectangular Field Tool:
From the left hand panel enter the farm and field name then select Draw Rectangle. Click to drop a point in any corner of the field and drag your mouse across the field to expand the rectangle, click again to finish drawing the shape. Once completed drawing, the acres mapped will populate within the Acres box below the field name.
Choose Add Another Field to continue adding field or choose Done to finish.
Draw Polygon Tool:
From the left hand panel enter the farm and field name then select Draw Polygon. Begin by clicking to drop points around the field boundary. Once back around to the first point, click the first point to close the boundary and complete the shape. Now that the shape is closed, the acres will populate within the Acres box below the field name.
Choose Add Another Field to continue adding field or choose Done to finish.
Draw Pivot Tool:
From the left hand panel enter the farm and field name then select Draw Circle. Move the mouse the location of the center of the pivot and left click once to drop the center point. Begin to drag the mouse outwards to set the extent of the pivots diameter. Once out to the extent, click once more to drop the outer diameters boundary. After the outer boundary has been set, the acres will calculate and populate within the Acres box below the field name.
Choose Add Another Field to continue adding field or choose Done to finish.
