In order to view and analyze a field's plant health with the help of Cropwise Imagery, the field boundaries must first be identified. The below article will explain the processes available within Cropwise Imagery to create new properties (farms) and fields.
How can I add farms and fields into Cropwise Imagery?
• Creating a New Property
• Creating New Fields
• Import Files
• Draw Your Fields
• Detect Your Fields
• Completed New Property
Creating a New Property
To create a new farm, begin by logging into Cropwise Imagery and select the desired organization.
Select Setup new property within the My Properties page.
Name the farm, identify the location, and select Next. The location can be identified through searching for the location or selecting the location within the map window.
Creating New Fields
After creating the new farm, select Add Fields.
Choose the+ New field button to begin the field creation process.
A field can be created within Cropwise Imagery through multiple processes. The processes to add fields include Import, Draw, and Detect options. The option to Insert Size should be avoided.
Import Files
Follow this process to upload shapefiles to the new property. Please note that importing a Farm-Field Tree (FFT) only works on a per property (farm) basis. Please repeat this import process for each necessary property.
Select within the Click or drag file to this area to upload button.
Search for and select the desired shapefiles and then select Open.
Note: Shapefiles have individual .shp, .shx and .dbf files that need to be within the same zipped folder together.
The File Attributes menu provides the ability to set the field name for boundaries that are being imported. The desired choice will be an attribute that contains anything similar to Name or Field Name. After selecting the appropriate file attribute select Next to continue in the process.
The fields will now display within the map and are available for any necessary edits. Complete the upload process by selecting Save.
Draw Your Fields
When drawing a new field boundary, simply start clicking within the map to identify boundary points along the border of the field. Select the first boundary point, or double-click, to close the shape, name the field and then either select Save or Save and draw another.
Detect Your Fields
Select an existing Common Land Unit (CLU) boundary and edit the field name as needed. Repeat this process for any additional fields and then select Create fields.
Completed New Property
After completing the farm and field creation process, the newly created property will then be available within Cropwise Imagery and will force a new download of satellite imagery to be cached within Google Chrome's browser.
