Assigning crops to a field is the final step of configuring the Farm Field Tree in order to tie records, such as plans and tasks, back to field(s).
Table of Contents
Mass Crop Assigner
To assign multiple fields of the same crop at a single time, navigate to Bulk Edit within the Properties menu.
Next, select the fields to assign a crop to. Then choose Edit Crop Zones option and then the Add Crop Zones option. Change or Delete Crop Zones are also available if needed.
If a crop season has already been created and is currently active, it will be pre-selected. If no crop season exists, then an option to create a new season will be available. Next, search for the desired Crop for the selected field(s) and choose the Save button.
The Change Summary on the right-side of the screen will then populate with which field(s) have a crop zone added, changed or removed. After the summary has been reviewed, select the Complete button.
Any crop zones that have been added, changed or remove will now be reflected within the Properties menu for the current selected Crop Season.
Single Field Crop Assignment
When finishing creating a new field, the drop down arrow next to Save Field will provide the option to Save and add a crop zone.
To assign a crop to an existing field, simply navigate to the Properties menu, select a field and then select the + New Property > Crop Zone option.
First, select an existing Crop Season or select + Create New Crop Season if needed.
When creating a new crop season, first identify its name. It is recommended to name the crop season by the calendar year, such as 2023 or 2024, for example. This will allow for all crops grown within the calendar year to be lumped into a singular crop season.
For operations that include double cropping, spring and/or fall crops, the crop season can instead represent these specific crop plantings. Examples include, but not limited to:
- 2024 Spring Snap Beans and 2024 Fall Snap Beans
- 2024 Wheat and 2024 Soybeans
Once the Crop Season Name is identified, capture the Target Start Date and Target End Date for the designated crop season.
Next, search and select the Crop for the selected field. The Crop Zone Name will auto-populate based on the selected crop and can be edited. Note that the Crop Zone boundary will be identical to the field boundary, but can be adjusted to represent the area of the field that is planted with the selected crop. Reported Area is also optional but can be captured to represent any acreage that differs from the Boundary Area.
Once this information is captured, select Save to finish the crop assignment. The drop down arrow also provides options to Save and Add another Crop zone to the selected field or Save and Draw a new Field. If the Save option is selected, the page will redirect to the Properties menu. Repeat this process for other fields that need a crop assignment.
